Pac-Man Goes Disney With A New Cartoon On The Way

Disney XD gobbled up the chance to present a new cartoon series starring one of the most famous video game icons this side of Super Mario: Pac-Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins” is tentatively slated for Fall of 2013, and will be a 3-D animated production. The cartoon will have quite a pedigree working on it, with Avi Arad (the Marvel films) and Rick Ungar (“X-Men: Evolution”) executive producing the project.

This is not the first time Pac-Man has appeared on television. The Hanna-Barbera series Pac-Man ran for two seasons in the early 1980s, featuring the spherical yellow character as a “family man” with wife Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Baby in tow.

In addition to the Ghosts, Pac’s main nemesis during the original TV series was Mezmaron -- who looked a little too much like Darth Vader for comfort. For those interested in this campy wedge of Eighties cheese, the complete first season for Pac-Man has just been made available by Warner Bros.’ Archive Editions.
