Comics Based On "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" and "Ultimate Spider-Man" Cartoons On The Way

Marvel Comics has just announced comic book tie-ins to their popular The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Adventures #1 and Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #1 will both launch in April, ongoing series featuring writing by two people familiar to Marvel fans: Chris Yost and Dan Slott!

When news broke last month of the discontinuation of the last two titles from the publisher's kid-centered Marvel Adventures line, speculation grew as to what -- if anything -- Marvel might replace them with. These titles seem to give them the best of both worlds: synergy with their projects in other media, plus child-friendly material to create the next generation of fans. As a bonus, top-flight talent like Slott -- currently the writer of the Spider-Man flagship title -- and Yost (X-Force) give the comics an added boost of credibility and substance. Yost in particular is also a prolific animated TV writer, with a notable stint on X-Men: Evolution as well as being the head writer on Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

It is also notable that on Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures Slott will again be working with his Batman Adventures co-creator Ty Templeton -- the two producing many memorable issues of the various incarnations of that comic book series. Also writing for the book is Man Of Action studios, the people behind Ben 10. Adam Dekraker will be doing art chores on Spider-Man and Nuno Plati on Avengers.
