With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles making their way to Nickelodeon for a long overdue revival of their animated antics it was only a matter of time before they started popping up elsewhere. The Mall of America looks like it will be one of their first stops as the Nickelodeon Universe Facebook page has recently posted a mock-up for a new Turtles-themed thrill ride.
Nickelodeon Universe is a 70-acre theme park centered in the Mall of America. Originally Knott's Camp Snoopy, the park was later transformed into a Nickelodeon theme park featuring rides such as Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Collider and Spongebob's Rock Bottom Plunge. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock will take riders 75-ft in the air where they will hit speeds up to 25mph. From their individual seats, riders will be able to control whether they spin like an out-of-control airplane or rock back and forth like a simple teeter-totter, making no two rides the same.
Shell Shock is scheduled to open in March 2012 and though we're anxious to see it in action our real excitement comes from the look this mock-up gives us at Shredder -- the Turtles main adversary and a character we have yet to see much of. Its not much, but if you squint just enough you can see that Tinhead standing on top of what appears to be the ride's entrance, squaring off with Leonardo. He seems to mesh well with the other characters that have been revealed, which is a huge plus, but this early peek only has us craving the Turtles small-screen return that much more.
