The massive Panasonic booth at CES played host to three iconic James Bond directors: John Glen, Michael Apted, and Martin Campbell. Between the three of them they have directed eight of the James Bond movies: For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, Licence To Kill, GoldenEye, The World Is Not Enough, and Casino Royale. That's an impressive amount of Bond, especially for John Glen who directed the first five on that list.
They were assembled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond and to announce the massive Bond 50 Blu-ray set from Fox Home Entertainment that houses the entire range of 22 James Bond films, from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace. Selected scenes were screened from each of their different takes on Bond, and it was very impressive to see how sharp and amazing they all looked, including even John Glen's For Your Eyes Only which is over 30 years old and stood up nicely next to Casino Royale.
While details were scant on what extras will be included, this marks the first time that the entire collection has made it to Blu-ray, and with the 23rd James Bond film Skyfall appearing this year, it's a good time to go Blu with Bond.
BOND 50 showcases fifty years of Bond neatly packaged into one cool, sleek collectable box-set featuring all six iconic James Bond actors. Produced using the highest possible picture quality and audio presentation, the collection includes all 22 James Bond feature films from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace and more than 130 hours of bonus features including some new and exclusive content.
“With all 22 feature films available on Blu-ray in one collection for the first time this is a great way for fans to catch up on 007’s epic journey before Skyfall hits theaters next Fall,” said Michael Brown, Senior Vice President, MGM Home Entertainment. “Now viewers can enjoy the intense action of the innovative franchise in the most immersive home experience possible.”
