“Batman” Back-Ups Reunite “American Vampire” Team on The Court of Owls

By Stephen Brown

DC’s The Source blog announced this morning that Batman #8 will feature the first installment of an eight-page back-up feature detailing the history of the mysterious Court of Owls currently running amok in the Bat-books.

The back-up will pair current Batman writer Scott Snyder with his American Vampire co-creator Rafael Albuquerque, who previously drew the Dark Knight’s adventures in an arc of Superman/Batman. Joining the creative team will be co-writer James Tynion IV.

Snyder told The Source that these back-ups will “investigate the secret history of the Court of Owls and its relationship to the Wayne family – particularly to Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce’s parents.” He also announced that a three-part story beginning in issue #9 would be told from the perspective of Jarvis Pennyworth, Bat-butler Alfred’s father.

It is unknown if the planned back-ups in Tony Daniel’s Detective Comics will also lead-in to “The Night of The Owls” crossover slated for May, but expect clarification from The Source soon. Check out Albuquerque's sketches for the back-ups below:
