These videos might have come from September's Tokyo Game Show, but we're still getting them out here to remind you that another Resident Evil is coming to Nintendo's newest handheld in February with the prequel, Resident Evil: Revelations.
Revelations is Capcom's second foray into 3D survival horror, following this year's Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, which expanded the bonus mode from 4 and 5. But instead of being a glorified time challenge, Revelations will be filling in some of the backstory that happened between the two most recent numbered games, focusing on longtime RE character, Jill Valentine. Jill travels to an abandoned cruise ship to determine the whereabouts of her missing partner, Chris Redfield, and who wants to bet that she encounters all manner of bloodthirsty biological horrors on board?
The glossy new game--it continues to surprise me how good games look on the new handheld--promises a move away from the increasingly action-focused elements of recent titles and a return to the puzzle-solving, ammo hoarding, enemy avoiding survival horror for which the series has always been best known. It's also going to be one of the first games out the gate to support Nintendo's new Circle Pad Expansion, the less-than-svelte add-on which will clip a second analog nub onto your 3DS.
