Sony’s new handheld, the Playstation Vita, officially hits store shelves on February 22nd, but those of us anxiously waiting to get our grubby, gamer fingers on the souped-up PSP can snag one a week early — if we don’t mind dropping a little extra coin for a pre-order bundle from select retail outlets.
Announced via the Playstation Blog, the Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle comes with the more expensive 3G capable Vita hardware, a special carrying case, a 4GB memory card and a copy of launch title, Little Deviants. The bundle will set early birds back $349.99, but we’ll be playing games on the shiny new system by February 15th while everyone that didn’t pre-order jealously waits for the 22nd.
You can pre-order the First Edition Bundle from Amazon or Best Buy right now, but there is an upside to waiting for the actual release day. First of all you’ll save a little money if Little Deviants isn’t on your must-buy list. Secondly you’ll have the choice between a 3G capable system ($299.99) and the WiFi-only model ($249.99). I don’t know about you, but having AT&T 3G service on a gaming handheld really isn’t that important to me — especially considering the wide availability of free WiFi hotspots these days.
So what’s your plan? Are heading over to Best Buy or Amazon’s website to set up a preorder right now, or are you going to wait until launch day to see how things look before you spend your hard-earned cash? Hit the comments section below and share your thoughts!
