Fall Geek TV Preview - Animation

With September come the first hints of autumn: school is back in session, the leaves are turning red and orange, and more importantly, there’s TV that needs a watchin’! Here’s MTV Geek’s round-up of the nerd-tastic programs you’ll be watching (and DVRing [and downloading]) this Fall:

Archer

Premieres On: Thursday, September 15th at 10:30pm on FX

Why We’re Geeked: FX’s ridiculously, laugh out loud hilarious spy spoof has only gotten funnier and more complex over the course of the past two seasons. Like Arrested Development set in the CIA – but way more violent – the show returns for a sadly brief three episode run, before delivering another thirteen episodes in January.

Beavis and Butt-Head

Premieres On: Thursday, October 27th at 10pm on MTV

Why We’re Geeked: Yes, corporate synergy, blah, blah, blah, but Beavis and Butt-Head is at the top of any TV list, not just animated. We’ve missed their sickering, their snark, and most of all, the Great Cornholio. The first few clips have shown that even though decades have passed, B&B haven’t gotten any more mature. Awesome.

Good Vibes

Premieres On: Thursday, October 27th at 10:30pm on MTV

Why We’re Geeked: Pineapple Express’ David Gordon Green created the animated surfer comedy Good Vibes, which would be reason enough to check it out… But the voice cast is a who’s who, with stars ranging from Adam Brody, to Danny McBride, to – be still our geeky hearts – Alan Tudyk. Oh, and corporate synergy, blah, blah, blah.

Robot Chicken

Premieres On: Sunday, October 23rd at 11:30pm on Adult Swim

Why We’re Geeked: Actually the second half of season five, the stop motion pop-culture skewering is the first we’ve seen of Seth Green and Matt Senreich’s show (other than a Star Wars themed special) since March. The first episode back is titled “Beastmaster & Commander,” which is more than enough impetus to tune in.

South Park

Premieres On: Wednesday, October 5th at 10pm on Comedy Central

Why We’re Geeked: We have no idea what’s coming up in the second half of Season 15, because, we’re guessing, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have no idea… Because whatever its about probably hasn’t happened yet. But coming off a triumphant Broadway show (yeah, we can’t believe it either), the duo is hotter than ever – we can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Premieres On: Friday, September 16th at 10pm on Cartoon Network

Why We’re Geeked: We’ll let our own Woodsy do most of the geeking out, but suffice to say the return of the best thing to happen to Star Wars in decades has its first episode set on Mon Calamari, its second episode set on Naboo… And there’s a very good chance at no point will Anakin shout, “NOOOOO!!!!” So that’s a win right there.
