The Daily Geek: Lady Gaga Approves Weird Al Parody, Firefly Cupcakes, Portal 2 Song, and more!

Geek icon Weird Al Yankovic took to his blog yesterday to explain why there would be no official release of his new Lady Gaga parody, "Perform This Way" -- basically, Gaga's reps said that after hearing the final song, she wouldn't give her blessing for him to release it. But not true, said Gaga in a startling turn of events later that day. As Weird Al put it on his blog:

"Apparently the fact that she didn’t approve it was news to Lady Gaga herself!

Gaga’s manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga – she had no idea at all. Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that’s what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own.

He’s sorry.

And Gaga loves the song."

You don't have to wait for Weird Al's album to drop to hear "Perform This Way" -- he posted the song to YouTube!

These Firefly cupcakes by Vivian are SO CUTE!!!

Wait, here's a close-up of Jayne:

I like Phil Noto's version of the X-Men First Class poster:

I wish we went back to more illustrated movie posters rather than all that Photoshop stuff...Noto could be the next Drew Struzan!

Chris Gerringer has designed the ultimate set of wallpapers for the sensitive Star Wars fan: "Droid Feelings"

And our video of the day is of Jonathan Coulton's end credits song for Portal 2, "I Want You Gone" (SPOILERS!!!)
