Here’s the basic info straight from Hasbro:
G.I. JOE SKYSTRIKER JET WITH FIGURE
The original SKYSTRIKER JET, released early in the G.I. JOE vs. Cobra series, has been at the top of fans’ wish lists since it was discontinued in the mid 1980’s. This SKYSTRIKER has wings that sweep in and out and working landing gear. It will also come with a 3.75” pilot to help navigate G.I. JOE through treacherous COBRA territory.
As you can see from the prototype packaging, the Skystriker will come packaged with a new figure of ACE, just like the original. Also like the original, the jet’s wings fold out by sliding a switch on the upper back of the Skystriker’s body. This thing is simply awe-inspiring in person and will definitely be worth a look when it’s released this coming summer.
That’s not all though. No way, no how! A second announcement soon followed and it shocked our meager geek-filled brains til they were practically Jell-O! At the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, there will be an exclusive version of the Skystriker. It’s just a simple paint re-deco, but it manages to “transform” the JOE’s trusted fighter plane into something infinitely cooler! The SDCC-exclusive Skystriker will be painted to look like Starscream from the G1 Transformers! Just take a look at that thing and then try to tell us you aren’t excited! You can’t, and if you can… well, nobody likes a liar.
But wait, there’s even more to the SDCC-exclusive in the form of its pilot and a familiar sidearm. A special Cobra Commander figure is included with the jet. He’s sporting his metal battle-mask and a flightsuit. Who knew that lispy would-be conqueror could manage flying a plane? Anyway, he also comes with a pistol, but not just any pistol. Nope, this handgun is none other than the alt-mode of the Decepticon’s leader, Megatron! The sculpt for the gun is straight out of the 80’s Transformer’s cartoon and is just icing on the cake to this SDCC-exclusive. Thanks a lot Hasbro, now we’re gonna have to fight tooth and nail for one of these!
