Move over, Captain Planet -- "Gisele & the Green Team" are the newest eco-superheroes on the block!
A joint collaboration between Squared Entertainment and AOL, the "Gisele & the Green Team" project will include 26 short-form animated webisodes and an interactive website with games and activities. The story revolves around a group of teenage girls who are both supermodels and "environmental superheroes," and the initative will not only stress "green" issues but "girl power" as well.
Leading the "Green Team" is real-life supermodel Gisele Bündchen, designated goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Stephanie Cohen, Director of AOL Kids and Teens, said of the webisodes' star: "Gisele Bündchen is an inspiring role model for girls and we’re delighted to connect our young audience with her important environmental message.”
The *really* important question out of all this is, of course: who would win in hand-to-hand eco-combat: "Green Gisele" or Tom Cruise's Captain Planet? (granted, Cruise's Planet has Whoopi Goldberg as "Gaia" in his corner). File it under: "Crossovers "We Want To See."
