At the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco yesterday, Comcast showed off the new Xfinity TV app coming to the iPhone and iPad. It'll be available next week and gives users a new level of control over their cable service.
The app will be free to Comcast digital cable subscribers, and provides a load of features that'll slowly roll out after launch. Users will be able to scroll through and change channels in real-time, search for up-coming shows, browse the On Demand programming, set-up DVR recordings, set-up a watch list of favorite shows, and even watch certain programming right on your iPhone or iPad!
If you don't have an iPad or iPhone, don't get all pissed just yet. Comcast says they will be offering a free app for Android devices next month, which will be closely followed by one for Blackberry devices. PCs and other tablet devices will also be getting apps as well.
While not all features will be available right when the Xfinity TV app hit's the digital market, it wont take long to get all theses services in the palm of your hand. Comcast says that this announcement is just the tip of the app iceberg.
