NYCC: Funimation Sneak Peak!

Funimation kicked off their side of Con by giving a sneak peak at some upcoming and recently released goods.

Birdy the Mighty Decode: An Anime series about a busty, interstellar, alien-chasing space cop named Birdy Cephon Altera, who, while pursuing an extraterrestrial baddie, accidentally kills a high school teenager. Fortunately, he survives, unfortunately he’s now merged with Birdy and trapped within her body until his original body can be repaired! Yup…you heard that right and guess what…hilarity ensues!. The full series will be released on DVD October 26th.

Corpse Princess: After being murdered, Makina Hoshimura is transformed into a zombie but rather than feed on the living she seeks the aid of an anti-corpse sect of Buddhist monks who arm her with duel MAC-11 sub-machineguns! Now, she must hunt down and kill 108 other malevolent corpses in order to gain her entry into heaven. The DVD is available now and can also be viewed with subtitles on Funimation’s website.

Eden of the East: Described as “The Jason Bourne of Anime,” Eden of the East tells the story of a girl, who on her graduation trip to D.C. encounters a naked man with a gun, a cell phone with 8.2 billion in digital cash, and, to make matters even more interesting…a raging case of Amnesia. Ordered by a mysterious individual; she must use 10 billion yen to save Japan or perish! The series hits DVD October 19th with a movie to follow later next year.

Hetalia: One of the first Anime series to spring from a web comic, Hetalia features allegorical shorts starring anthropomorphic characters based on events from World War I and World War II. Season two arrives October 26th.

Master of Martial Hearts: “Girl’s fight each other and their clothes fall!” Master of Martial Hearts is a five episode OVA about fierce females who fight to obtain a jewel that can grant any wish.

My Bride is a Mermaid: Not to be confused with the hit Japanese film, Oh My Zombie Mermaid, My Bride is a Mermaid is a romantic comedy about a teenage boy named who is saved from drowning by a mermaid named. But under mermaid law one of them must die, so in order to save them both, Sun Seto’s family forces the two to marry, but Sun Seto’s family members are heads of the Mermaid Mafia. Crazy antics ensue as Sun Seto’s father Gozaburo tries to whack Nagasumi, all while Nagasumi tries to adjust to his new married life.

Robo Geisha: Already infamous due to the popular trailer, Robo Geisha hits new levels of ridiculousness that includes a transforming cyborg Geisha tank, acid breast milk, and many other absurd wonders of low-budget Japanese filmmaking. Snag the DVD on November 16th
