For those of you who have been holding out for the Verizon version of the iPad we have some good news, and we have some bad news. The good news first: starting today Verizon is offering three different iPad bundles to meet all your tablet computing needs!
And here's the bad: all of the bundles will include a Wi-Fi only version of the iPad, and Verizon's MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot device.
The iPad/MiFi hotspot bundles will be priced at $629.99 for the 16GB model, $729.99 for the 32GB model and $829.99 for the 64GB model. This does seem like a pretty fair deal though, AT&T currently offers the 3G models for these prices, so it's nice to see Verizon throwing in the mobile hotspot to make up for the disappointing Wi-Fi only units.
Although you sadly won't be able to get a 3G ready iPad from Verizon, the MiFi internet service will not require a contract (thank you Verizon), but will instead be available for $20 on a month-to-month basis, giving users access to up to 1GB of data usage per month. For those of you who aren't interested in, or already have a mobile hotspot, Verizon stores will also be offering the Wi-Fi only iPads as a standalone product at Apple's current pricing of $499, $599, and $699.
If this is getting you all excited about the long awaited arrival of the iPhone to Verizon's network, I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet. This mobile hotspot bundle release clearly shows us that Apple's mobile products are still not compatible with Verizon's 3G network. Those of us dedicated to our Verizon Wireless service are going to have to stick with our Android and BlackBerry smartphones for the time being.
So how about it? Are you guys excited about the iPad's arrival at Verizon, or is it Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab you can't wait to get your touch screen smudging fingers on? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
