The Truth Behind Fitz/Simmons' 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Hologram Projector: "It Burns!"

By Alex Zalben

Earlier this week, we posted an extensive interview with "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, and Jeph Loeb... But left a few little bits out. First, and most important? That the hologram projectors on the show are razor hot:

MTV Splashpage: I imagine there's a lot of green screen involved in filming the show...

Iain De Caestecker: Not really, a lot of stuff is in front of you. Even when you’re touching graphics. There’s a lot of tech you can hold in your hand… There’s the odd bit of green screen here and there, they add later in post to enhance things. But a lot of it is there for us, which is a really great thing to have.

Jeph Loeb: We have a pretty incredible hologram projector that puts the hologram on the set, so you can see it as you’re working with, as you’re playing with things.

Elizabeth Henstridge: Yeah, it’s amazing. It burns. It sometimes burns.

De Caestecker: You’re not using it properly then. You’re not getting back on that machine. I knew you didn’t know how it worked.

Henstridge: No pain, no gain!

In case it wasn't clear, Henstridge and De Caestecker are as adorable in real life as they are on TV.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC.
