Loki Becomes God Of Jokes In New 'Thor: The Dark World' TV Spots

by Brett White

So far we've seen a lot more of Menacing Loki than Charming Loki in "Thor: The Dark World's" TV spots and trailers, what with the god of mischief being public enemy number one following the events of "The Avengers." But while Loki may still be sporting some shackles in the new footage found in these two TV spots, he's also proven that he's capable of setting up jokes and knocking them down.

Both TV spots really hammer home the "Avengers" connection, with one touting the "return of an Avenger" and the other claiming that last year's blockbuster of blockbusters was "just the beginning." With all of the non-Iron Man solo films pulling in considerably less money than the rest of Marvel Studios' output, it makes sense that the company would try to tie the film as closely as possible to "Avengers." The strategy might have paid off with "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," which benefited from being so heavily marketed as a continuation of "Avengers."
