We're not quite at the "Age of Ultron" yet, but how about a sneak peek to tide you over?
Comic-Con attendees caught an early look at Earth's mightiest robot when Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios unveiled a very preliminary "Avengers: Age of Ultron" teaser. The footage centered on Iron Man's iconic helmet as it's pounded by unknown forces, ultimately turning it into Ultron's unforgettable visage.
Now, that footage is online, and ready for your viewing pleasure. Check out the "Age of Ultron" teaser below.
The announcement of Ultron's role as the "Avengers" villain took many fans by surprise, since smart money said Thanos would be the next "Avengers" bad guy.
"We have to stay grounded," Whedon said of the choice back in August. "It's part of what makes the Marvel universe click – their relationship to the real world. It's science-fiction, and Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain. He's always been the overlord of villainy and darkness."
James Spader will provide the voice of the Avengers' android nemesis, and Whedon has described the actor as the "first and only choice."
"He's got that hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling, but he's also very human and humorous," he said. "Ultron is not HAL. Spader can play all of the levels. He's the guy to break the Avengers into pieces."
