'Always Sunny' Actor Glenn Howerton Auditioned For 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

If you thought Chris Pratt was hard to imagine as the "Guardians of the Galaxy" hero Star-Lord, try this on for size: the part could have gone to Glenn Howerton of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" fame.

"I did audition recently for 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' to play the role Chris Pratt is playing," Howerton revealed in a recent interview with Zap2It. "And I know the director of that movie is supposedly a big 'Sunny' fan, which is cool."

So, let's pause and reflect on a few things here.

(1) Can you imagine Dennis Reynolds as Peter Quill? I can, and it's glorious. Not as glorious as Chris Pratt, obviously, but still pretty damn amazing.

(2) If Howerton's really interested in the comic book world, he should just pull the trigger with the rest of the "Sunny" gang and pump out "Dayman" comics. The world needs it.

(3) James Gunn is an "Always Sunny" fan, eh? Maybe once "Guardians" wraps, he can step in and guest-write/direct an episode of the show. Hey, it wouldn't be the craziest pairing I can think of.

Later in the interview, Howerton revealed that "playing something like The Riddler would definitely feel like it was in my wheelhouse." And the wheels continue to spin …
