Deadline has reported that "Ghost Projekt," a limited series published by Oni Press in 2010, has just been snatched up by NBC for development. The news comes just a few months after NBC passed on a pilot produced for Oni Press' runaway hit comic "The Sixth Gun"

The 5-issue series was written by Joe Harris with art by Steve Rolston and Dean Trippe. This makes the second Oni Press-published, Rolston-illustrated series to get Hollywood attention following Fox's interest in "Queen and Country."

"Ghost Projekt" features the unlikely pairing of an American weapons inspector and a Russian Federal Security Service agent teamed up to stop a dangerous group from unleashing powerful ghostly forces found in a decrepit Soviet weapons lab.

Series writer Joe Harris was understandably excited about the announcement, especially with it coming as he preps a second volume of the series.

Artist Steve Rolston had this to say:

And over at Oni Press, it appears that the celebratin' doesn't stop.

The pilot will be executive produced by André Øvredal and John Glenn, who will also serve as the director and writer, respectively. Øvredal made a name for himself with the visually stunning found footage-style film, "Trollhunter," so you know the pilot's gonna look good. Glenn previously scripted the screenplay for the feature film "Eagle Eye."

Oni Press' publisher Joe Nozemack had this to say to Splash Page regarding the announcement: "We're incredibly excited to be moving forward with 'Ghost Projekt,' and it's all the sweeter to have immense talents like John Glenn and Andre Øvredal bringing Joe Harris and Steve Rolston's great work to television."
