If Carl was seeking a friend for the end of the world, then he's found one. Actor Vincent Martella has joined the cast of "The Walking Dead," according to Entertainment Weekly. Although it isn't specified just how extensive Martella's involvement in the show's fourth season will be, some concrete info is available about who he's playing. Martella plays Patrick, another survivor who has taken shelter in Rick's prison following the horrific events of season three's finale.
"He's right around Carl's age," Martella told EW. "He's a little bit older. He's one of the new people who Carl gets a little closer with. Carl hasn't really had anybody his age, so now you kind of get to see Carl's relationship with people his own age and that's one of the things that Patrick is bringing to the show."
Martella provides the voice of Phineas Flynn on the hit cartoon series "Phineas and Ferb," and he previously had a regular role on the sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris." With so much light-hearted fare under his belt, a role in the relentlessly grim "Walking Dead" might come as a surprise. But when you're as big a "Walking Dead" fan as Martella, you just can't resist the opportunity to mix it up with zombies.
"I was actually a massive fan of The Walking Dead," said Martella. "I've watched it since its premiere. It's been such a cool thing for me to be a part of the show that I'm such a big fan of, because I don't watch too much television religiously, like every single week. But this is one of those shows, so I'm really lucky."
"The Walking Dead" returns on AMC on October 13th.
