'X-Men: Days Of Future Past': Wolverine Will Have 'A Bit Of Fun' With Magneto

Magneto Wolverine

While talking up his new drama—the critically-acclaimed "Prisoners"—to The Daily Beast, Hugh Jackman dropped a bit of info regarding Wolverine's relationship with Michael Fassbender's Magneto in next year's mutant movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

"It's fair to say we don't get on that well," said Jackman in a definite understatement. "I get sent back to the past and he has no idea who I am, but you can imagine Wolverine has a bit of fun with that."

This again confirms that it's Wolverine who will be sent back in time to 1973 to stop the progress of the mutant-hunting Sentinels (you've read all about them, right?). This meeting is one that I'm personally excited for; young Magneto is infinitely more headstrong and ruthless than his older and wiser counterpart, played by Ian McKellen. What will happen when he comes up against Wolverine, a character not known for his patience? And exactly what kind of advantage will knowing Old-Man-Magneto give Wolverine? But most importantly—will their interactions be more like this...

Wolverine wins

or like this?

Magneto wins

These two have, historically, not gotten along all that well.

Because of these fascinating pairings, this film promises to be unlike any X-Men film we've seen before... which just so happens to be what Jackman thinks as well.

"I think some people are saying, 'Ah, this just sounds like an excuse to get all these actors together and make an Avengers-style movie,' but the truth is that it's a great script and Bryan is very ambitious to make the best movie of them all," Jackman explained. "He's got the biggest cast, the biggest budget, and he started it all, so it's his legacy. He's a fan of time-travel movies, and the detail that's gone into it is incredible. I'm quietly confident that it will be the biggest and the best of them all. When I sat there on that panel at Comic Con, and looked down at all the actors, you think, 'This might be one of the best ensembles ever assembled'... Apart from 'Movie 43.'"

Listen, if you didn't get Jackman's dig at "Movie 43," that's probably for the best. Just know that "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is not the worst film on Jackman's resume. Investigate "Movie 43" with great caution...
