Not too long ago, it was rumored that Amanda Waller would be popping up in the second season of “Arrow” as the leader of the A.R.G.U.S. organization. Now, thanks to Super Hero Hype, we know that she will indeed be in “Arrow” season two as portrayed by actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
Addai-Robinson, best known for her role as Naevia on “Spartacus,” is a terrific choice, guaranteed to bring a fresh, new perspective to Waller’s blunt force and brutal military tactics. Yes, there’s a whole lot about Amanda Waller that we here at Splash Page cannot wait to see unfold on “Arrow.” After all, she’s just about as deceitful as she is deadly. Click past the jump to learn more about Amanda Waller!
Nicknamed “The Wall,” Amanda Waller is the survivor of a terrible tragedy in which her son, her daughter and her husband were all murdered. Waller later would receive her doctorate in political science, becoming congressional aide for a period of time. It is during this period that Waller first learns of the Suicide Squad, proposing her own version of the team to the White House.
Placed directly in charge of the Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller is tasked with gathered superpowered criminals and sending them out on top secret government missions with the promise of early parole. Waller has been leader of the past several incarnations of the Suicide Squad, including the most recent version of the team which includes “Arrow” guest-star Deadshot, as well as Harley Quinn and King Shark.
Not only has Waller been the leader of the Suicide Squad for the past few years, but she’s also been put in charge of several other superpowered teams throughout the years—including, but not limited to, Checkmate, the Shadow Fighters, the Secret Six, and the New 52’s A.R.G.U.S. incarnation of the Justice League of America.
During Lex Luthor’s tenure as President of the United States of America, Amanda Waller is appointed his chief aide and political advisor. Under Luthor’s command, she leads a superpowered attack on an invading force of alien parasites. Waller is later promoted to Secretary of Metahuman Affairs as an official member of the Luthor Presidential Administration, doing jail time after Luthor is removed from office.
In the recent “Batman Beyond” ongoing series, it’s revealed that Amanda Waller actually attempted to clone Dick Grayson in order to forge a new Batman. However, the Grayson clone becomes highly unstable and eventually assumes the identity of the new Hush; systematically killing off all of Batman’s old enemies. Waller has also been said to have tampered with future Batman Terry McGinnis’ DNA, mixing his parents’ genes with that of Bruce Wayne.
