Disney's D23 Expo showed a lot of love for Captain America over the weekend. In addition to the debut of Disney's costumed Captain America, the real Cap—Chris Evans—was on-hand to help show off some new footage from next spring's Marvel movie, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
The actor spoke with Collider about his relationships in the new film, considering that it's the first film fully devoted to the time-displaced Steve Rogers. Evans revealed that the most prominent relationship in the film is between Captain America and his Avengers teammate, the Black Widow.
"The whole movie is myself and Black Widow, teaming up," Evans said about his on-screen partnership with the returning Scarlett Johansson. "They are a very unlikely duo. It's kind of an odd couple. We've both been working for someone else for a very long time. She is very morally flexible, Cap's a boy scout."
Evans revealed that something happens to bring the two of them closer together, saying, "Cap can't quite trust anybody, and he ends up having to trust a spy. The two of them form a very interesting, very layered connection. I really love the relationship with Scarlett in this movie. I think it really makes the movie."
It still remains to be seen exactly how layered their relationship gets, what with these spoilery set photos and all. But what about Cap's lost love, Peggy Carter?
"People know that Peggy Carter is back in the movie," said Evans. "They had photos of her! Which is a really beautiful—god, Haley Atwell is so good, it's not fair." Atwell will also be reprising her role in a short film featured on the "Iron Man 3" Blu-Ray, entitled "Agent Carter."
You can check out the entire interview below, which also includes Evans' mildly-NSFW (toss on some earbuds) reaction to hearing the title for "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
