'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' TwitPic: Sentinel Stands Tall In New Full Body Shot

by Brett White

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer has gotten active on Twitter again, bringing us a shot of Mystique in action yesterday and a fully revealed Sentinel today.

We previously caught glimpses of the Sentinels scattered throughout the Trask Industries viral website, but Singer has revealed one of the purple robots in all its glory—no filters or stylized lighting to get in the way! And it's big.

Check out the tweet and full pic below!

Whoah, right? Let's take a look at this bad boy busted out of the embedded tweet.

Like, seriously? Look at how big it is! The Trask Industries site said Sentinels were 18 feet tall, and this definitely proves it. While the body is much more mechanical looking than the Sentinels from the comics, the robots still share a lot of elements.

The most important thing remains unchanged: the robot is purple. It's not black, it's not silver, they actually made the Sentinels purple. And you know what? It works. They made the smart decision of having Trask Industries' color be purple, to explain the odd color choice. In addition to the color, the movie head design is quite similar to the source material, right down to the glowing eyes. Even the oddest looking bit of the new Sentinel design—the circular chest ventilation (?) area—seems to be pulled from the classic Sentinel design. The Sentinel's right hand is even ready to bring down swift judgement. Look at it! It's a gatling gun! Come on!

We'll get to see the Sentinels tear through the X-Men when "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opens on May 23rd.
