'Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.': Tying Into Films Takes A Backseat To Making A Good Show

by Brett White

Joss Whedon had a big weekend. With the con encompassing everything Whedon, like "Avengers: Age of Ultron" capping off the ginormous Marvel Studios presentation, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." could have easily fallen through the cracks. But that was decidedly not the case, as the show hyped up its profile with a screening of the pilot and the announcement that Cobie Smulders will reprise her role as Maria Hill in the pilot.

MTV News caught up with Whedon and asked him the two big questions: when will we find out how Coulson came back from the dead, and how much will the show tie into the Marvel films?

"Well in episode three we will reveal that he's made of cheese," jokes Whedon regarding Coulson's return. "That's obviously something that we're clearly planning to tease out, because it's not really about what happened. We make it clear that something happened and it's going to be about him dealing with it."

Whedon had lengthier thoughts on how the show will fit in with the movies, stating that making a quality show takes priority over referencing the movies, but that they will still try to squeeze in nods. Check out the full interview below for his answer!
