‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Star Hugh Jackman Teases Time-Traveling Wolverine

Hugh Jackman pops his claws into “The Wolverine” in just a few short weeks, but that won’t be the last time you see him as the fast-healing mutant.

Jackman’s set for a seventh appearance as Logan in next summer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Bryan Singer’s time-traveling mutant movie featuring the cast of the first “X-Men” trilogy alongside the players introduced in “First Class.” And Jackman’s one of the lucky actors who gets to stand side-by-side with all of them.

“Every day I find myself feeling grateful, this unbelievable gratitude to play a part I love, to work with an unbelievable cast I started with. That always has a special place, that first film we did. We were all really close,” he tells Access Hollywood. “And then after about six weeks of working with them, I was working with a whole new cast, some of the greatest actors around: McAvoy, Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nick Hoult. All of them. Add Peter Dinklage to that and Omar Sy, it’s been amazing.”

Many have speculated that the first generation of “X-Men” actors wouldn’t have too much interaction with the “First Class” gang, with both sets of characters separated by great distances in time. But Jackman has apparently worked with both the Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan-led crowd as well as their younger counterparts in James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Can we take that to mean Logan is the key time-traveling figure in “Days of Future Past,” or can we chalk it up to his eternal nature — that we’ll get a ’70s version of Wolverine along with a present-day incarnation? We’ll find out for sure next summer, or whenever a trailer hits.
