'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Concept Art Explodes Ahead Of Comic-Con

Comic-Con is less than one week away, but you don't have to wait quite that long to get a new look at "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes are on full display in new concept art from the "Captain America" sequel, premiered over at Entertainment Weekly, and illustrated by Ryan Meindering. The art depicts all-out war between the two old friends and other heavily-armed parties, including agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and some new high-tech opponents.

Flying high above the battle between Cap and his old friend turned new enemy is a new friend: Sam Wilson, the high-flying S.H.I.E.L.D. agent better known to comic book fans as The Falcon. "Hurt Locker" actor Anthony Mackie plays the winged hero in the upcoming superhero sequel.

It's the latest "Captain America" goodie to drop after the first official teaser poster arrived earlier in the week, depicting Steve Rogers' iconic shield drained of virtually all its color. It's a sign that Anthony and Joe Russo's take on the star-spangled super-soldier is going in a darker direction, with heightened political intrigue and espionage elements than what we've seen in the Marvel movies so far.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" arrives on April 4, 2014.
