'Deadpool' Test Footage Revealed: Rob Liefeld Puts On One-Man Show

by Brett White

"Deadpool" has been in development hell for a while now. After years of work, only three minutes of test footage have been shot. But they're three awesome minutes, according to screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. While that sequence has yet to be revealed, Deadpool creator and comic book artist Rob Liefeld acted out the sequence during a panel at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Convention. The artist went into great detail, describing the sequence's action bits and joke moments with his trademark enthusiasm.

Liefeld seems to be pleased with the test footage, as he reassured the audience that, "this is not 'Wolverine: Origins.' This is Deadpool." He's of course referencing the barely recognizable version of Wade Wilson portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," a film that will most likely be ignored should "Deadpool" ever get off the ground.

You can check out the full video below, and a paraphrased transcript at Comic Book Movie.

The film has a director (Tim Miller) and a finished script by the "Zombieland" duo, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Even Ryan Reynolds, who has long been attached to the project, can't stop talking about it. All the pieces are in place! But apparently the movie studio is hesitant to pull the trigger (pun!) on a hard R comic book flick.
