Marvel Schedules New Movies For 2016 And 2017

What does Marvel Studios have planned for after "The Avengers 2" and "Ant-Man" arrive in theaters in 2015? It's still a mystery — but at least now we have some dates to mark on our calendars.

Disney announced yesterday that two untitled Marvel projects are lined up for May 6, 2016, and May 5, 2017. No further details were revealed, except to say: "We look forward to announcing more details about these films as well as the sequel to THE AVENGERS (opening 5/1/15) at a later date."

So, can we take any guesses as to what these two films are? Sure we can! Kevin Feige has made it no secret that "Doctor Strange" is very much on his to-do list. He previously told MTV News, "He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is 'Ant-Man,' which keeps us excited."

There have also been rumblings about possible movies based on Black Panther and the Inhumans, as well as an adaptation of "Planet Hulk." And that's not even mentioning possible sequels to "Iron Man 3," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Thor: The Dark World."

In other words: the options are pretty much endless. In fact, don't be at all surprised if you see another couple of films joining the 2016 and 2017 schedules. There's simply too much to Marvel at for only one film per year.
