'Avengers 2' Update: Aaron Taylor-Johnson Eyed For Quicksilver?

Aaron Johnson

Everybody knows Aaron Taylor-Johnson can kick your ass. But did you know he can run away from said ass-kicking super-fast, too?

That'll be the case if a round of negotiations between Johnson and Marvel Studios pans out favorably for the actor, at least. According to The Wrap, the "Kick-Ass" star is the man Marvel wants to play Quicksilver in "The Avengers 2," the upcoming sequel to Joss Whedon's smash-hit superhero slug-fest.

There's no confirmation that Taylor-Johnson has landed the role just yet. But it is likely that the roles of Quicksilver and his sister, Scarlet Witch, will be filled out in time for Comic-Con in July. After all, ahead of the first "Avengers" film, Marvel assembled all of Earth's mightiest heroes on the Hall H stage to build buzz for their long-awaited epic. It was the first official reveal of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. One imagines Marvel is going to use Comic-Con (or perhaps D23 later in the summer) as an opportunity to do something similar with the "Avengers 2" cast; this is one of their final chances to do so before shooting commences in early 2014.

In addition to the Taylor-Johnson rumors, "Hanna" actress Saoirse Ronan's name has been mentioned in connection to Scarlet Witch.

"The Avengers 2" assembles on May 1, 2015.
