James Gunn Teases Rocket Raccoon On 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Set

Rocket Raccoon

After months of speculation, the wait is finally over: James Gunn has found his Rocket Raccoon.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director shared the good news with his Twitter followers on Thursday, tweeting out an image of himself along with Rocket's portrayer. I think you'll agree that it's an inspired choice.

Okay, wop wop wop, it's just the raccoon portion of Rocket Raccoon. Still, pretty wonderful to see the little critter on set. And we all know that Gunn has been taking the whole Rocket situation very seriously throughout his time on "Guardians."

"I've done a lot of studying with real raccoons, and we had real raccoons come in," the filmmaker said in April. "We've done photography with them, I've played with raccoons, and fed raccoons, and dealt a lot with real raccoons to get some of the behavior down, because it's really, really important to me that Rocket Raccoon, who is the heart of the movie, is not a cartoon character, it's not Bugs Bunny in the middle of The Avengers, it's a real, little, somewhat mangled beast that's alone. There's no one else in the universe quite like him, he's been created by these guys to be a mean-ass fighting machine."

As for who will be supplying the voice for Rocket … well, we'll just have to wait and see.
