Fans have been anxiously waiting for Superman and Batman to join forces in film for decades now, and Henry Cavill hopes that the waiting is about to come to an end. The "Man of Steel" leading man revealed to SFX that he wants a big screen team-up just as badly as everyone else does.
"I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict," says Cavill, "because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.”
With "Man of Steel" rebooting the Superman franchise, theories are running rampant that it will introduce the Superman mythos into a larger DC cinematic universe, one that possibly includes Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy. There have already been rumors that Christian Bale will show up alongside Superman as Batman in a "Justice League" film, and that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could show up again as John Blake in "Man of Steel," but neither seem likely to pan out. Cavill admits that he's unaware of any firm plans to bring Superman and Batman together.
"Who knows?" says Cavill. "I'm sure there's all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros. right now."
