Marvel Cinematic Universe: 5 Roles For Dwayne Johnson

by Ryan Rigley

It’s no secret that everyone loves Dwayne Johnson. Ever since we first got a whiff of what he was cooking back in 1996, people have fallen absolutely in love with him, including Marvel Studios.

“I mean, his name has come up in the past,” states Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in a recent interview with Collider. “I’m a gigantic fan of his, I think he’s an unbelievable personality and an unbelievable sort of force of nature. He’s awesome in ’Pain & Gain,’ he was great in ’G.I. Joe,’ he’s really kind of an amazing human being. I would love him to be part of the Marvel universe somewhere, someday.”

It seems like Marvel fans agree, judging by this fan-made Luke Cage movie poster starring Dwayne Johnson as everyone’s favorite Hero for Hire. Clearly Marvel is in the cards for Dwayne Johnson. The only question that remains is who should he play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Born a member of the Strontian race under Shi’ar rule, Kallark killed his Strontian elders under the Shi’ar emperor’s orders. Rewarding Kallark for his loyalty, the Shi’ar emperor named him the leader of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. As Gladiator, Kallark possesses superhuman strength (powerful enough to destroy an entire planet), speed (faster than the speed of light) and durability (capable of withstanding the blast from a supernova). True, he is primarily an X-Men supporting character, so his film rights might be tied up with Fox. However, one would assume the same thing about Fantastic Four supporting characters the Inhumans, and Marvel has their rights.

Captain Marvel
A military officer of the Kree Empire, Captain Mar-Vell was sent to Earth by his superiors in order to keep an eye on their first attempts at space exploration. Eventually, Mar-Vell grew tired of his superiors’ nefarious intentions and aligned himself with the people of Earth instead. With the Kree branding him a traitor, Captain Mar-Vell fought to protect our planet from any and all types of alien threats. And for fans of the current Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, don’t worry because we have thought of plenty of ways to include her as well.

The son of the incredible Hulk, Skaar was conceived while the jade giant was banished to the planet Sakaar and was born right after the Hulk left the planet. Looking to exact vengeance on his absent father, Skaar headed to Earth with the intentions of killing the Hulk. Eventually, the two were able to work out their differences, but not before Skaar stabbed the Hulk through the chest with a huge, alien sword. If anyone can go up against the computer generated brute force of the Hulk, it’s the real Dwayne Johnson.

Black Bolt
The leader of the aforementioned Inhumans, who reside on the moon, Black Bolt is so powerful that even the slightest hint of a word uttered can shatter a battleship. At full power, his sonic scream generates a shockwave equal to that of a nuclear warhead. Black Bolt plays a huge part in the Marvel universe and currently stars in “New Avengers.” The Rock certainly has the size and stature to play him, plus it would be really interesting to see him in a role with barely any lines. He has plenty of charisma to rely on.

Wonder Man
Born the son of rich industrialist Sanford Williams, Simon Williams inherited his father’s munitions factory after his death but failed to keep it running due to their biggest competitor, Stark Industries. As a result, Simon made a deal with Baron Zemo and Enchantress that transformed him into a being of pure ionic energy. Wonder Man has since given up his evil ways and assembled with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He also dresses exactly like The Rock circa 1998; with his sleeveless muscle shirt and sunglasses.
