‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past': New Set Photo Of Beast And Wolverine Changes Everything

by Brett White

I thought I had it all figured out. Judging by the wardrobe tests Bryan Singer has tweeted out, it seemed like production on “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was starting with the future/modern day X-Men. The costumes are all fairly post-apocalyptic. But now the director has tweeted an image that throws that assumption out the window.

We just saw Professor X’s 1973 look late last week, and now we have another peek at yesteryear. Only this time it shows off our first look at returning actor Nicholas Hoult as the Beast alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. You can check out the full tweet and photo after the jump, as well as a list of reasons why this photo changes everything.

Reasons why this picture changes everything:

» Beast is human. If the curdoroy suit didn’t tip you off, this is definitely 1973. So therefore it’s definitely 11 years after “X-Men: First Class.” Beast was a blue furball by the end of that film, and he’s a more manly blue furball in the probably-set-in-2006 film “X-Men: The Last Stand.” So… what is happening here? Is this a mental trick by Professor X? Did Beast invent an image inducer to change his appearance? Is this Mystique? What is happening?

» Wolverine is hanging out with Beast. When Bryan Singer originally tweeted that photo of Wolverine on set, I just assumed he was modern Wolverine and not 1973 Wolverine. But now here he is, in all his wide-lapel glory, hanging out in 1973. Is Wolverine the central figure of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”? Is he the mental time traveler who goes from modern day to the past? Will there be two Hugh Jackman Wolverines in this movie? What is happening?

» They’re in the X-Mansion’s underground halls. Those shiny, silver walls look familiar, don’t they? That’s because the X-Men spent three movies running around in them. Now they’re back, but this time in 1973. Considering how wood-paneled 1973 was, this decor is quite modern. Is it at all possible that this is 1973 Beast and Wolverine… in the present-day X-Mansion? What is happening?
