Everyone can relax. Zoe Saldana has confirmed her involvement in "Guardians of the Galaxy." The actress was previously reported as being in "final talks" to star as Gamora in next year's Marvel movie, and even though that's code for "pretty much a done deal," we really didn't want to get our hopes up and then dashed. Zoe Saldana is the perfect choice for Gamora, and her involvement only makes us that much more excited for the film.
The confirmation comes from a pair of just-released videos, one coming from the world premiere of "Star Trek Into Darkness." In it, Saldana confirms her involvement, saying that director James Gunn approached her about being in the film.
"I didn't know about the comic, as I normally am clueless that way. My sister sort of informed me of it, I read the script and i was blown away with it."
Saldana goes on to say that she really likes the character of Gamora, which makes the hours of makeup she'll have to endure to bring the character to life worth it. And yes, Saldana also confirms that her Gamora will not feature CGI.
"I think it's make up, it's all make up. I will be waking up at 3:30 in the morning to go through the whole grueling process of four hours of makeup, to turn green [and] with the contact lenses and everything. But I know the final product will be very rewarding."
