‘Daredevil’ Film Rights Back With Marvel

by Eddie Wright

According to Newsarama, during an “Iron Man 3” press junket, Marvel Studios president of production, Kevin Feige confirmed that the cinematic rights to “Daredevil” have reverted back to Marvel. Newsarama says, “We directly asked Feige if the reports were accurate, to which he replied in the affirmative.”

Previously, Fox had the rights to Daredevil and produced the 2003 lackluster film “Daredevil” starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. According to an August 2012 report, Fox had until October 10, 2012 to get a new film into production or the rights would revert back to Marvel. Fox rushed a new Daredevil film into development, first working with director by David Slade (“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” “30 Days of Night”) until that fell through and Fox moved to Joe Carnahan (“The Grey,” “The A-Team”). Carnahan’s film also didn’t make the cut and the film did not get the greenlight. Carnahan then released a killer sizzle reel that had fans in a tizzy for a gritty Carnahan reboot.

If this confirmation is, in fact, confirmed, does this mean Carnahan might get his shot at bringing his version of Daredevil to life? Could we see Daredevil pop up in “Avengers 2” or another of Marvel’s Phase Two or Three movies? Could we possible get a — gaspgood “Daredevil” movie? This confirmation raises so many questions!
