‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Set Photos: Ravencroft Revealed

by Brett White

Comic Book Movie has a few new pictures of “Amazing Spider-Man 2’s” pretty elaborate Ravencroft Institute set, courtesy of Seven Web Heads. The shots contain an even more detailed look at the set’s many nooks and crannies, including one possible Easter egg that may or may not play a role in the film.

You should definitely check out the entire photo set over at Comic Book Movie, and you can check out a couple of the photos below.

The aforementioned Easter egg is the name “Thomas Warren,” which is worth noting because the Spider-Man villain the Jackal’s real name is Miles Warren. Could this be the Jackal’s father, or just a coincidence? The Jackal played a big part in the very divisive “Clone Saga,” the story line that defined Spider-Man for much of the 1990s.

The Jackal debuted in “Amazing Spider-Man” #129 in 1974, wherein he created a clone of Spider-Man. The clone was believed to have died until he returned years later. The clone, now going by the name Ben Reilly, was revealed to actually be the real Spider-Man. That meant that the character fans had been following for decades was, in actuality, a fake. Readers of course didn’t like the change, but their refusal to stop reading the comics caused the story line to play out for years until the switcheroo was switcheroo’d. Let’s hope this is just an Easter egg and we won’t get two Andrew Garfields running around in the sequel.

It is interesting to note that Thomas Warren’s lifespan ends in 1994, which is the year that “The Clone Saga” started.
