Happy 75th Birthday Superman And Lois Lane!

Lois Superman

by Brett White

Superman and Lois Lane are having a pretty stellar week. Sure, it started off with a terrifying TV message from General Zod, but then we got a scene showing the duo coming face to face in the latest (and greatest) "Man of Steel" trailer. Now we celebrate the pair's 75th birthday. 1938's "Action Comics" #1 contained the debut of two of the most important characters in comic book history. In fact, it's safe to say that these characters embody traits that have become essential ingredients in every successful hero: Selfless like Superman, tenacious like Lois Lane; powerful of body like Superman and powerful of spirit like Lois Lane.

MTV Geek will be celebrating the birthday all day long, so be sure to drop by the site and check out the festivities. Get started with this great compilation of Superman footage, including interviews with the stars of "Superman Unbound" and the man who was almost Clark Kent, Nicolas Cage.

You can also check out this great rundown of tomorrow's Supermen, over at MTV Geek, as well as this happy birthday Vine video featuring the cast and crew of "Superman Unbound."

Today's also a great day to celebrate the actors who have brought Superman and Lois Lane to life over the years. Up top, next to "Man of Steel's" Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, are the stars of the 1950's "Adventures of Superman" television series, George Reeves and Phyllis Coates.

We also thought it'd be fun to watch the first Superman film serial from 1948 with the most recent trailer. The serial stars Kirk Alyn as Superman and Noel Neill as Lois Lane. Check them both out below!
