Its title may be a mouthful, but we’re going to let that slide since this one box set delivered so many mind-blowing goodies this week. The box set, which came out on April 2nd, contains all of Marvel’s Phase One movies: “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Marvel’s The Avengers.” But, as we learned pretty much every day this week, the box set contains more than just the films themselves. Featurettes, concept art, GIF-able behind the scenes moments, memorabilia and more were all crammed into the collectible briefcase, along with a tiny Tesseract. It’s rare that a box set really brings the goods to back up the hype; this box set has proven to be worthy enough to wield Mjolnir.
Here’s a rundown of all the news set off via this one Blu-ray box set:
» ’Iron Man 3’ Kicks Off Phase Two In New Featurette
A one-minute teaser of a full featurette (see below) was officially released and contained new behind-the-scenes footage from “Iron Man 3.”
» Phase Two GIF Wall, Including First Look At ’Thor: The Dark World’
The citizens of Tumblr took the featurette and gave it a GIF makeover, providing us with our first look at “Thor: The Dark World.”
» New Featurette And Concept Art Will Blow Your Mind
This batch of concept art gave us our first look at Rocket Raccoon, Falcon and Winter Soldier.
» New ’Avengers’ Deleted Scenes Surface On Blu-ray Box Set
A truly jam-packed week has (seemingly) come to an end with the reveal of even more deleted scenes from “Marvel’s the Avengers.” See Captain America save a family, Black Widow hide from the Hulk, Loki take some flack from an alien and more!
It’s safe to say that this week would have been mighty dull without the flood of news this one release generated. And come one, we’re eternally grateful to this box set for giving us a close-up glimpse of Rocket Raccoon.
Welcome to Hero of the Week, our weekly salute to the heroes keeping the comic book, movie and television scene something to look forward to day in and day out. From actual superheroes to the actors and filmmakers who bring them to life, you can tell us who your heroes are in the comments and on Twitter!
