"Ninja Turtles" might have recently cast a surprising leading lady, but that hasn't stopped it from getting its release date bumped back. The movie will now be coming out on June 6, 2014 instead of the previously-announced May 16, 2014.
That original release date had pitted "Ninja Turtles" against "Godzilla," but now the Turtles will have to face off against some different giant lizards, as "Jurassic Park 4" is due out on June 13. Insert obligatory reptile joke here. Thanks to Collider for the release date heads up.
In other exciting "Turtles" news, Nickelodeon has announced that it's renewed its "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series for a third season. It's currently the number one new animated series among boys ages 2 to 11, and seems to have successfully introduced the "TMNT" story to a new generation. This news is all the more impressive because Nickelodeon hasn't even announced an air date for its 26-episode second season yet -- though this move seems like a big vote of confidence.
As for "Ninja Turtles," Michael Bay confirmed Megan Fox will be taking a starring role in the movie on February 22. It was later reported that she will be playing the role of April O'Neil. The actors who will portray Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo have not been revealed yet.
