Matthew Vaughn Will Produce Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’

Marvel’s First Family is getting some support from a “First Class” filmmaker.

Matthew Vaughn, who helmed “X-Men: First Class” and will produce “X-Men: Days of Future Past” for Fox, has joined the studio’s “Fantastic Four” reboot as a producer. Fox’s Marvel consultant Mark Millar confirmed the news on Twitter.

No other details are known, beyond Vaughn signing on to produce the superhero movie, directed by “Chronicle” helmer Josh Trank.

It’s the latest in a series of moves seemingly aimed at bringing cohesion to Fox’s Marvel properties. Most attention has been paid to the X-Universe, with films like “The Wolverine” and “Days of Future Past” in place to usher in a new age of “X-Men” movies. Is it possible that the Vaughn-produced “Fantastic Four” will fit into that universe as well? And there’s no way I’m the only one hoping that “Fantastic Four” takes place in the ’60s alongside the “First Class” timeline, is there?

“Fantastic Four” hits theaters on March 6, 2015.
