Dwayne Johnson Says He Won't Rock Out As 'Lobo'

Don't bother holding your breath for Dwayne Johnson as Lobo. According to the man himself, it isn't happening.

The Rock was attached to play the Main Man in a movie directed by "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" helmer Brad Peyton, but we've heard nothing on that front since the summer of 2012. And according to Johnson, who spoke with MTV News at the junket for his new movie "Snitch," the radio-silence on his end is because "Lobo" is now off his radar.

"It was [happening] for a minute, but then it kind of just went away as things happen in Hollywood," he said. "For a minute, [I] was interested in it, and then it went away."

Instead, Johnson is turning his attention to "Hercules," directed by Brett Ratner. According to the actor, he's had his eye on the mythical character for quite some time.

"Understand, for me when I was a kid, Hercules was always a hero of mine, from Steve Reeves to the multiple guys who have played Hercules, but the idea and the notion of this man," he said. "When I first got into movies, I thought, 'Gosh, I would love to do that one day.' I always thought that the version of Hercules that I want to play was one that was more dramatic and survived in barren lands and not necessarily slick in any way or anything like that. It's been around and been on my mind for some time."
