First ‘Wolverine’ Footage Will Premiere In March With ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’

If you were hoping to pop your claws into some new footage from “The Wolverine” this month, then put ’em away now — you’re going to have to wait.

Superhero Hype reports that our first look at Hugh Jackman’s return to the role that made him a star won’t come until the end of March. It’ll be paired with the March 29 release of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” according to the report, contrary to earlier word of a “Wolverine” trailer hitting with this week’s “A Good Day to Die Hard.”

Director James Mangold confirmed the news on his Twitter account:

“Take a deep breath. End of March,” he wrote. “Tell me you think we’re lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window. From end of March till release, you’ll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I’ve never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party.”

The movie itself is due out on July 26, 2013.
