Marvel Loves Chris: Six Other Chrisses To Consider

Chris Marvel

Marvel Studios is nothing if not deliberate. They carefully planned the five-film build-up to "The Avengers." They're meticulously plotting the stages of Phase Two right now and, if you believe certain reports, they're already deep into Phase Three.

Above all else, they have invested heavily in the Chris business.

Think about it: three of Marvel's leading men are all named Chris. First there was Hemsworth as Thor, then Evans as Captain America, and now the latest Chris to step into the ring — Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in "Guardians of the Galaxy." That's a lot of Chrisses!

Since Marvel's inclination towards dudes named Chris has paid off so far, we thought to ourselves, "Hey, who are some of the Chrisses they haven't thought of yet?" So, without further ado: six Chrisses Marvel needs to consider going forward!

Chris Pine as Ant-Man

Handsome, smart and sure of himself — that's Hank Pym to a tee, epitomized by Pine and his leading man turn in the "Star Trek" films. If anyone can make you buy into a hot-shot scientist turned size-shifting superhero, it's Pine.

Christopher Walken as Doctor Strange

Like many of you, I would love to see Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme. But if you really want to emphasize the "Strange," there's no one stranger than Walken.

Chris Cooper as Obligatory Tony Stark Business Nemesis

How is he not a Marvel villain already? Look at him! Look at him! If that guy doesn't scream "Iron Man" villain to you, I don't know what to say.

Christoph Waltz as Baron Zemo

Likewise, the "Inglourious Basterds" and "Django Unchained" breakout seems primed and ready for the House of Ideas. The Red Skull is the natural fit for the actor, and while it seems like the part might open up again, we think the Masters of Evil founder would be an equally great fit for the erstwhile Hans Landa.

Christina Hendricks as Ms. Marvel

She's frequently listed on Wonder Woman wish lists, so now's the chance for Marvel to swoop in and make her an offer she can't refuse — namely, playing Carol Danvers in an "Avengers" sequel.

Chris Christie as The Thing

Worth getting the rights back from Fox for this casting alone, Marvel. Get it done.
