Emily VanCamp Lands Lead 'Captain America' Role

At long last, Marvel has found its new leading lady for the "Captain America" franchise — and she's hell-bent on getting "Revenge."

According to Deadline, "Revenge" actress Emily VanCamp has landed the coveted female lead in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," the April 2014 blockbuster starring Chris Evans as the star-spangled super-soldier. The exact identity of the character remains under wraps, though popular opinion pegs it as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, relative of Cap's first lady love, Peggy.

In signing on for "Winter Soldier," VanCamp beats out a wide range of actresses including Alison Brie, Emilia Clarke and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Deadline also adds that Scarlett Johansson will factor into "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," as has been previously speculated.
