David Morrissey Promises Unexpected 'Walking Dead' Governor/Rick Showdown

The Walking Dead

The Governor and Rick will come face-to-face in the second half of "The Walking Dead" season three. This is something we've already seen teased. But according to star David Morrissey, the epic showdown isn't going to happen the way fans might expect.

"What I’ve liked about the season so far is that it’s full of surprises,” Morrissey told SFX magazine. "Obviously the stars might be aligned for Rick and the Governor to have some sort of meeting, but maybe the show will shoot that in a very surprising way. I think it’s not going to give you what you want in the way that you want it, and I think that’s what I’ve enjoyed in the second half of the season."

As if that's not intriguing enough, Morrissey reinforced the fact that fans shouldn't get too attached to the main characters of "The Walking Dead." As we've seen in the past (RIP Lori), the producers aren't afraid to kill off major characters, and we've already heard that more big deaths are coming.

“As an audience you can see that no one’s safe and there are surprises within that," Morrissey said. "What’s great about 'The Walking Dead' is that it’s not frightened of killing off its leading actors.”

No, it certainly isn't. "The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on February 10.
