'Sin City' Drags Julia Garner Into Joseph Gordon-Levitt's 'Long, Bad Night'

If it's a day of the week, then it's a day for "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" casting news.

The latest actor to move to Basin City is Julia Garner, who joins Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's sequel to the 2005 hit "Sin City" for a role opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Deadline reports the casting, saying that Garner will play "a young stripper" who shares scenes with JGL's character, a gambler named Johnny.

During a recent discussion with Rodriguez, we learned much more about the story that JGL's Johnny features in. The story is entirely new to the "Sin City" universe, and it's called "The Long, Bad Night." According to Rodriguez, Johnny "comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game," but the gambit doesn't play out as expected. As the title implies, things get very bad for Johnny very quickly. "You have to start with someone very likable so that you're like, 'No! Not him, not him,'" the director said.

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" launches into theaters on October 4, 2013.
