Will Joss Whedon Find 'Serenity' After 'Avengers 2'?

The "Avengers" sequel kept Joss Whedon too busy to even consider "Star Wars: Episode VII"a job that now belongs to J.J. Abrams, in case you haven't heard — but not even Earth's mightiest heroes are mighty enough to rid Whedon's love for the "Firefly" gang.

In fact, Whedon still hopes to one day revisit the crew of Serenity, as he revealed in an interview with The Toronto Sun.

"I'll never really accept it," Whedon said of the end of the "Firefly" saga. "And I always, in the back of my head, think, 'What if I could get the old gang back together?'"

"Part of me is like, 'God, it would be great when I finish Avengers 2 to do that,'" he continued, before downplaying the likelihood of that ever happening. "I suspect very strongly that after Avengers 2 the next thing I do will be a one-man show," he joked. "Possibly one monkey."

As for his thoughts on the "Serenity" movie and its reception, Whedon said, "When I made [the movie], I said here's one thing I'll never do again -- a movie based on something that some people know about and some people don't, with tons of characters who all know each other and who you have to introduce. ... And then my second movie was 'The Avengers.'"

Whedon, a glutton for punishment? Not at all!
