'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Starts Filming As Set Pics Emerge

It's official: Marvel's "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series has started filming.

Entertainment Weekly posted the exciting news after Maurissa Tancharoen -- wife of Jed Whedon and executive producer/writer on "S.H.I.E.L.D." -- tweeted a picture of director Joss Whedon "in between takes." This comes after some lucky drivers like Mike Ermalovich spotted some S.H.I.E.L.D. trucks being carted off to the show's set.

Just the pilot is being filmed now, but ABC executives seemed really excited about the planned new series during the TCA's winter press tour. Whedon seemed similarly thrilled when MTV News spoke to him at the Critics' Choice Awards.

"The whole point of the show is that even with all these big things, the little things matter," he said. "It's about people who don't have super powers. There will be some people with powers, there will be FX, and there will be the spectacle of science-fiction storytelling — but all played on a very human, small level. That's the appeal of the thing."
