Anthony Mackie has offered up some new details about the role he has in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Though we know he'll be playing the part of The Falcon, he's elaborated about what that will mean in a new interview.
"I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier," Mackie told Ain't It Cool News.
Since he fears that he'll get replaced if he talks about the movie too much, Mackie wouldn't confirm whether or not his character would have The Falcon's pet falcon Redwing in "The Winter Soldier." "This is what I learned about franchises. They can always cast somebody else and say, 'Well that last person died,' or just not address it," he said. "You see the second movie, and the guy is a different guy than the first, and they're like, 'Yep, same dude to me.'"
That's not to say that Mackie has been completely mum about his role. When he spoke to MTV News recently, he told us that his costume makes him "look like a bad mother-what" and said that the Russo brothers' vision for the "Captain America" sequel is "going to work on all accords." Mackie elaborated a bit to AICN about the research he's done prepping for the part.
"It was funny; a lot of the research I found was online. My older brother was a huge comic book buff. So when the news came out online, he called me and just gave me the whole rundown," Mackie said. "Luckily, I have a lot of friends who weren’t cool growing up, but who are really cool now, so they read a lot of comic books. So I would just call and ask them, and they would send me all of this stuff online, and I got to read a bunch of the old comic books. It’s fortunate, because it’s a take off the comic book, it’s not the exactly storyline of the comic book."
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is due out on April 4, 2014.
